How to play Dominoes

Start Dominoes by looking at the playing area and its controls. Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Double-six draw dominoes, local two players with shared-screen visible hands.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Empty your hand, or hold fewer pips when both players are blocked. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Start with a deliberate move.

Step by step

  1. Play a tile matching either open chain end.
  2. Choose which end to use.
  3. Draw only when no tile fits.
  4. Pass only with no legal tile and an empty stock.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

A useful example

An open 4 accepts 4–2, leaving 2 open. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Notice the change in the playing area.

Watch out for this

You cannot ignore a legal match to draw. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
