How to play Ludo

Take a moment with Ludo before moving to another game. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Compare the starting position with the example in the Guide. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Keep the aim in sight

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Keep that objective in view throughout the round. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

  1. Roll six to leave the yard.
  2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
  3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
  4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

A useful example

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Verify the rule before continuing.

Watch out for this

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. Check the rule before repeating the action. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
